Fundraise for us

Fundraising for us couldn’t be easier – and yet, it makes a huge difference to the lives of the guests we help. We rely on donations from individuals and organisations to continue running our vital services and support some of the most vulnerable people in Milton Keynes.

Whether you are seeking to organise your own event, join in with one of ours, or encourage your school or team at work to take part too, we can help you make the most of fundraising efforts and ensure you have a good time doing it!

Quote
"One of the joys of raising money is seeing how it directly helps – so many have come here heartbroken and they just don’t know where to turn. But UnityMK give them opportunities, whether it be through work or longer-term accommodation to rebuild their lives and move on."

Ways to fundraise

If you want to fundraise for us, but don’t know what to do, we have lots of ideas to inspire you! Whether you’re looking to do something sporty, are a brilliant baker, or would like the kids to take part, you’ll have a great time fundraising while helping to raise funds that make a positive impact here in Milton Keynes.
Our top ‘small but mighty’ fundraisers would be:

Host an event
Donate needed items
Sponsored skills
Donate

Why not host your own sponsored sleepout – this could be in your back garden, in a school hall, or even on your office floor. Contact us for more information and health and safety advice.

We are always in need for key items our guests can use. Why not encourage friends and family to donate what they don’t need and anything we can’t use directly can be sold at a garage sale or car boot and the proceeds donated to us.

We all have something special that only we can do, why not get sponsored to show off your skills? You could complete a marathon on an exercise bike, bake lots of cakes to sell, or knit the longest scarf!

We are all so busy, so sometimes the simplest things are the best – by donating every month your donation goes further and allows us to plan our services to help even more people in need. Why not look at your payroll giving and salary sacrifice schemes offered by your employer and encourage your colleagues to do the same.

Fundraising ideas for schools

Why not hold a sponsored sleepout to raise money to support our services? Many schools have had great success hosting sponsored sleepouts in their sports halls and even staying in their PJ’s the next day in class! There is also a serious message behind it, as many students find the experience of being away from their comfy bed and families hard. It’s only a brief look of what some of our guests go through, but it is a meaningful conversation starter.

Here at UnityMK we also understand that learning about homelessness is covered within your curriculum, but it can be difficult to approach the subject with children. Our Fundraising Team are happy to come to your school and talk about the issue of homelessness in Milton Keynes and the work we do to tackle it in an age-appropriate way. Contact us for more information.

Join in with one of our events

We have events throughout the year to help raise funds for our services. Our annual Big Sleepout, is one of the challenges that is a brilliant one to get involved with, and as well as raising funds, is a great opportunity to experience a little of what it is like to sleep rough. Our 2024 Big Sleepout is taking place on Friday 10 May - click here to sign up and take part.

For all other events, keep your eyes on our News section and social media channels where we share details about how to sign up for all our events.
